2003 Camp Guestbook

A note of thanks to Italio River Adventures.  Our stay with them was a remarkable experience.  Pat and Bob exceeded our expectations with every aspect of our trip.  Eating a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie while looking into the eyes of a wolf not 30 feet away seems to sum up the whole experience.

Thanks again,

Gordon Herzog

Thank you Pat and Bob, my trip was awesome.  Seeing all the glaciers was amazing, and floating down the river was very exciting and fun even though Pat gave Gordo and I the raft that always spun 360’s.  The fishing was excellent except for the period of time when Pat tied me on a fly with no hook.  The food was great especially Bob’s pies.  Thanks again for a wonderful experience and adventure.

The 1st visit was great but this 2nd trip with Lynne and all your care made for a very enjoyable trip – No Moose – No Bear – But what the heck, that’s what guides are for …..

You guys were outstanding.  Two thumbs up from Dick and I.  Couldn’t you serve hamburgers instead of Salmon?  Other than that it couldn’t have been better.  You make us feel like family!

Bob, Pat & Lisa –

Many thanks for your warm (but not necessarily dry) hospitality during my fist trip to southeast.  The wild life viewing along the New Italio float was tremendous – you mean not everyone sees two moose, five bear, and a wolf fishing?

The Coho were great, and catching multiple species during the same week brought variety.  I never thought, however, that I would be razzed so heavily for using spinning gear.. by someone who rolls tortillas for bait and burns plastic in the wild.

Bob, thanks for putting me up at your place and carrying the lions’ share (or was that 3 lions shares) of the gear up to Italio Falls.  Seeing the icebergs on Harlequin Lake during our Kayak portion was a high point of the trip.

Good food & friendship were just some of the benefits of this trip I didn’t expect.

Best Wishes,

John b. Tweddale

I had a wonderful time!  The fishing was great and the people, Bob, Pat & Lisa were great!  Lisa the food was outstanding and you’re to be complimented on the fine presentation.  Bob, I really appreciated you’re hanging in there with us.  You did a good job and packed up a lot of fish (sorry) about that – you ran in to some fish eaters!  All in all a most enjoyable experience!

Pat, Bob, Lisa, Teen,

Thanks again for another great trip.  This will be my 3rd trip to IRA, returning with good friends.  Again you folks have provided great hospitality.  But more important your friendship.  You continue to provide a quality operation, with a verity of opportunities to experience things that one would only find in Alaska i.e. fish entering the Italio at the mouth doing their aerobatics.  Catching fish in the incoming tide in the surf on a fly rod.

Great trip again, Hope to return next year.

Your Friend

Rivers1.jpg (73769 bytes)To Pat, Bob and Lisa,

Thank you so much for the amazing fishing trip.

Your hospitality is second to none.  I appreciate the friendship that we have developed over the past two years, and look forward to future trips with all of you.  Keep up the good work.

Truly – River Drown

Mike1.jpg (56548 bytes)Best Trip ever – Keep this up and  you guys might become guides –

Kai1.jpg (76149 bytes)Thank  you, I didn’t only leave here with great memories but with feeling like I’m leaving friends.  I didn’t know what to expect going to the last frontier, you guys made it very enjoyable.  Thanks again for the adventure, I hope to be back next year.

P.S.  It wasn’t the “end of the run”

Being my first trip to AK, I didn’t know what to expect.  However, you guys made the trip a one of a kind experience.  Good fishing, good company and good food.

Thnx Don

Bob and Pat’s excellent adventure!  Yes it was!  All my expectations have been surpassed on this trip.  The food was incredible the fishing was amazing and the “camp” was comfortable.  This trip will be the subject of many future fishing camp stories.  Please look us up on your travel to Southern Utah.

Thanks Again,

Steve Kemp

Danny1.jpg (91816 bytes)So this is all the space I get?!  Pat and Bob, you’re great hosts.  I’d like to echo everyone else in saying that the accommodations were top-notch.  Besides the fishing and other “planned” activities I really enjoyed the down-time (conversation and rest).  I plan to see you all in the future and wish you well in all of your future endeavors.

Thanks- Danny Kemp

GregKemp1.jpg (67405 bytes)I’m hesitant to write good things here – I’d like to keep Alaska’s best secret!  As trips to AK go this has to be the best.  Great scenery, outstanding food, accommodations rustic enough to keep the feeling – and first class hosts.  If you keep delivering experiences like this you’ll soon be over-booked – then you’ll get fat and lazy.  So screw up a little every now & then will you.  Fishing was great!  I know you can’t take credit for the silver run, but you sure put us on them, and your cooking was much appreciated.  It’s hard to believe there are sill people out there who are as attentive and personable as you, but now I’m a believer.  I’m sure my boys would love to come back, and if the schedule allows we will.  When you get to So. Utah please give us a chance to return some of the favors- although I don’t know what we’ve got to compare to landing a 33+” silver at sunset on the Italio.

Bob & Pat, What a ride!  Non-stop fun & excitement, stopping only for fine dining, dream filled nights & competitive fish story socials.  From early morning coffee to the evening vacuum packing, it was a time to remember ….. a time to forget the stresses of the mainland, work, school, money, all of it …. Just focus on your fly and your back cast.  What bug will be the best today?   Pink, red, black, purple or maybe that yellow-chartreuse- sparkling – fur tailed critters.  The jet boat ride was classic – a Disney quality experience with Bob’s rapid stop technique….assholes, elbows & fly rods to the front of the boat!  Dude has had a life changing experience 0 we’ll see if he can ever get Alaska out of his system.  I know I can’t.  Thanks for the life extending memories.  You did a great job and I appreciate all your hard work & patience… The junior guide needs a little more work (maybe he’s just a little slow) keep working with him… Much success in the future, hopefully our paths will cross again.

God bless,

Rick Rosenberg

Dude1.jpg (124837 bytes)Bob & Pat, Thanks for the adventures, the fishing (the biggest I have ever caught), for giving me a place to return too because it is freaking paradise up here, and for the 45-0 in 5 feet boat ride, God speed.

Dave1.jpg (95569 bytes)Bob & Pat,

It doesn’t get better than this!  You really have something special here … Thanks for sharing it with us.  I hate to see this week end; each day was a new adventure full of fun, excitement and great scenery .. not to mention lots of fish.  The treasures I found on the beach will always have a place on my shelf.  The trip photos will always be close at hand to share with my family, friends and anybody that comes through our door.  You really went out of your way to make us comfortable and make this truly a trip of a lifetime.  I hope you can come and share some winter trips with us down in our country.

Thanks for the memories,

They will be treasured forever!

Bob & Pat,

My first Alaskan adventure!!  Upon arriving in Yakutat, I did not know what to expect.  Then Teen Miller picked us up with Tanis and Eden as helpers.  Tanis asked me to help calm Eden in the car going to the B & B,  I pulled out the oldies, “Twinkle Twinkle Little Start?.. & “The ABC’s.”  Tanis made me feel at home and ease as did Pat & Bob the rest of the trip.  Although, Tanis asked me about my boy and family … He was great (future guide).

The fishing was excellent … more than 20 fish days average … including taking salmon on top water flies (orgasmic).  After fishing, there is the center camp building that if you go in, you come out stuffed with some of the best cooked food ever.  I looked forward each day to the great menu… Better than most restaurants I have been too normally I do not eat salmon, but Bob & Pat cooked up some of the best dishes ever (beg for/try the Blackened Mango Tequila Salmon).  The adventure included many activities, … “Jet boat rides:, “Beach combing at 30mph on for wheelers” and “dry packing fish every day.”

Now that the adventure is over … I am looking for ways to extend it.  It was great!!

Thanks for the great adventure memories
